1. Health & Safety Waiver

You acknowledge that using One Tap Witness in situations involving law enforcement, civil unrest, or confrontational scenarios carries inherent personal risk. You assume full personal responsibility for your safety and the safety of others when using this application. One Tap Witness, Powered by Civics, and Eric Goodman are not responsible for any physical harm, injury, or adverse outcome resulting from your use of this application.

2. Full Indemnification

You agree to fully indemnify, defend, and hold harmless One Tap Witness, Powered by Civics, Eric Goodman, and all affiliated parties from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to your use of this application, your recordings, or any actions you take while using this application.

3. User Responsibility

You are solely responsible for how you use this application and for all recordings made through it. You agree to use One Tap Witness only in compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws. Recording laws vary by jurisdiction. You are responsible for knowing and complying with the recording consent laws in your location.

4. No Warranty

One Tap Witness is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee that recordings will be successfully uploaded, preserved, or delivered to trusted contacts in all circumstances. Network failures, device limitations, and third-party service outages may affect functionality.

5. Data & Privacy

One Tap Witness does not store your video footage on our servers. Recordings are uploaded directly to your personal cloud storage accounts (Google Drive or Dropbox). We are not responsible for the privacy policies or data handling of third-party storage providers. GPS location data is captured at time of recording and included in contact notifications.

6. Intellectual Property

The application, its design, code, branding, and all associated intellectual property are the exclusive property of Eric Goodman / Powered by Civics. Unauthorized copying, reproduction, distribution, or modification is strictly prohibited and subject to civil damages up to $150,000 per infringement under 17 U.S.C. § 504.

7. Subscription & Refunds

The annual subscription fee of $5.99 is non-refundable after the payment is processed. You may cancel your subscription at any time. Upon cancellation, you will retain access for the remainder of your paid period plus the 7-day grace period.

8. Governing Law

These Terms of Service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be resolved in the courts of the State of Florida.

9. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Continued use of the application after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms. Users will be notified of material changes via email if a contact address is on file.

Open Settings → Accessibility → Guided Access — or go to Settings → Lock Screen (iOS 17+)

Settings → Face ID & Passcode → Allow Access When Locked → scroll to find Return to Clock or use Medical ID / Emergency field as your message slot

Best option: Settings → Lock Screen → Customize → add Text widget with the message above (iOS 16+)

Or use a lock screen wallpaper app (e.g. Lock Launcher) to add a visible text note on the lock screen.

⚡ How It Works

When someone finds your phone and taps the lock screen message, a page opens. It looks like a simple contact form.

In the background, we silently capture a front-camera photo. Then when they submit their name, phone, and email — you get an email with their photo, contact info, and GPS location.

No app needed for the finder. Works in any browser.

Goal: One Tap Witness appears on your lock screen so you can start recording with a single swipe — without unlocking your phone. In an emergency every second counts. Swipe up from your lock screen shortcut and recording begins instantly.

Part 1

Add to Home Screen

Open Chrome on your Android

Make sure you're using Chrome — other browsers may not support home screen install.

Go to onetapwitness.com/app

Navigate to the app URL in Chrome.

Tap the three-dot menu ⋮

Top right corner of Chrome.

Tap "Add to Home screen"

Name it One Tap Witness and tap Add. The icon appears on your home screen.

Part 2

Add to Lock Screen

Long press your home screen

Hold your finger on an empty area of your home screen until the edit menu appears.

Tap "Widgets"

Find the Widgets option in the bottom menu or sidebar.

Search for "Shortcuts"

Find the Shortcuts widget — it lets you put any app shortcut on your lock screen.

Drag it to your lock screen

On Android 13+ swipe to your lock screen panel and drop the widget there. Select One Tap Witness as the shortcut app.

Alternative: Lock screen shortcut slots

Many Android phones (Samsung, Pixel) have built-in shortcut slots at the bottom corners of the lock screen. Go to Settings → Lock Screen → Shortcuts and assign One Tap Witness to a slot.

Samsung users: Settings → Lock Screen → Shortcuts → tap the left or right shortcut slot → select One Tap Witness.

Pixel users: Settings → Display → Lock Screen → Add shortcuts → One Tap Witness.

Goal: One Tap Witness appears in your Control Center — accessible with a single swipe down from anywhere, including the lock screen, without unlocking your phone.

Part 1

Add to Home Screen

Open Safari on your iPhone

Must be Safari — Chrome and other browsers cannot install PWAs to the home screen on iPhone.

Go to onetapwitness.com/app

Navigate to the app URL in Safari.

Tap the Share button

The box with an arrow pointing up — at the bottom of Safari.

Tap "Add to Home Screen"

Name it One Tap Witness and tap Add. The icon appears on your home screen.

Part 2

Add to Control Center (iOS 16+)

Open Settings on your iPhone

The grey gear icon on your home screen.

Tap "Control Center"

Scroll down to find it in Settings.

Scroll down to "More Controls"

Find the list of apps that can be added to Control Center.

Find One Tap Witness and tap +

It moves to your active Control Center items.

Swipe down from top-right corner

Even from the lock screen — One Tap Witness appears in your Control Center. One tap launches straight into recording.

iOS 18 users: You can also customize your lock screen directly. Long press your lock screen → Customize → add One Tap Witness as a lock screen shortcut in the bottom left or right corner.
